On Friday night, five drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
A joint operation between the motorized unit and the traffic department conducted a traffic control.
They conducted checks on drivers operating motor vehicles under the influence of alcohol at various strategic locations. These locations included L.G. Smith Boulevard, Adriaan Lacle Boulevard, Kamerlingh Onnestraat, Las Americas roundabout, and Mahuma roundabout.
At least 120 vehicles were checked, and 5 drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The traffic department was responsible for the administrative procedures and conducting the alcohol tests at the police station.
Out of the 5 arrested drivers, 3 of them had their driver’s licenses revoked. They will not be able to drive a motor vehicle for the time being.
The highest recorded alcohol level that night was 920 ug/l.
The police force would like to remind everyone that driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or any other substance is prohibited on our roads.
