MACUARIMA, ARUBA: The Police, The Royal Navy and Guarda nos Costa have formed a single team. Upon receiving information at the Aruba Police Department about the disappearance of Mr. Everard Azad EDOO, born in Aruba on March 27, 1952, a British national and resident of Aruba, the Aruba Police Department immediately activated their response.
Various police departments began searching for information about the whereabouts of Mr. EDOO. The last time his family had contact with him was on March 31, 2023. Mr. EDOO had informed them that he would be going hiking in nature near Kapel di Alto Vista in Noord. It was not the first time that he had gone hiking in nature of Kapel di Alto Vista. A good neighbor also saw Mr. EDOO for the last time on March 31.
After a few weeks, a family member of Mr. EDOO who lives outside of Aruba tried to contact him via cell phone but was not successful. They then contacted the neighbor to check on Mr. EDOO at his home, but he was not there and neither was his car. They immediately called the police and provided all the necessary information, including the make and model of Mr. EDOO’s car, a Kia Sportage. The police were able to locate the car near Kapel di Alto Vista.
It is suspected that Mr. EDOO may have gone hiking in the mountains behind Kapel di Alto Vista or in the surrounding neighborhoods, but he never returned home.
In response to this situation, the Aruba Police Department has activated various police units, including:
- Students from the Police School and personnel from District Noord.
- Guarda nos Costa and The Royal Navy personnel.
Together, a total of 60 personnel were mobilized to assist in the search in the large area around Kapel di Alto Vista.
The Aruba Police Department is appealing to the community, especially those who enjoy hiking, mountain biking, or using different trails, to report any strange findings such as clothing, jewelry, strange smells, or dead animals. Please call the police immediately to provide any information you may have. Do not tamper with any evidence or strange objects you may find.
If anyone has seen anything strange or unusual in the neighborhood of Kapel di Alto Vista since March 31, 2023, please call the police at 100, or if you wish to remain anonymous, call the Tipline at 11141.
