MACUARIMA, ARUBA: A new era is ready to begin. It was after the old Police Station located in Oranjestad began to have problems that a solution was sought to find a new building for the Oranjestad Police Station.
It was a short journey, working together with the Ministry of Justice, the Police Department, and the Police Union to find a new location located on Paardenbaaistraat. After several offers and options were considered, a decision was made to establish a new Police Station that meets the requirements and standards of the Police.
After all three parties sat together and evaluated the new location together with the building owner, the decision was made that Paardenbaaistraat number 12 will become the new home for all police officers in Oranjestad. This building is located at the former Venezuelan consulate or, better said, the new neighbor of the main office of Lotto.
This building will only house police officers, Neighborhood Police, the Permit Department, and the Administrative Department of Oranjestad. The Youth and Sexual Assault Police Department and Victim Support will be located in another building. The building has undergone a complete renovation and will have new equipment such as computers, desks, chairs… It is also well-equipped so that officers can work calmly and in an appropriate environment for the coming years.
In the presence of Prime Minister Mrs. Evelyn Wever-Croes, Minister of Justice and Social Affairs Mr. Rocco Tjon, AA real estate handed over the keys and the properties were handed over to the Chief Commissioner of The Aruba Police, Drs. Ramon ARNHEM.
“I am very happy as Chief Commissioner of The ArubaPolice, because the well-being of my colleagues is important to me. This will be the new high-quality standard for all Police Stations in the future. Congratulations to our colleagues in Oranjestad on your new station,” said Mr. Arnhem on this occasion.
The Police Union SPA was also present, contributing to the realization of this project so that the colleagues in Oranjestad can have a new home, as well as the Attorney General, Mr. Bote Ter Steege.
