Prevention campaign starts today!
MACUARIMA, ARUBA: After conducting various investigations and listening to community feedback regarding the issue of stray dogs on the streets, the Aruba Police Force is preparing a police action aimed at addressing this serious problem that affects all citizens of Aruba.
In recent times, the Aruba Police Force has witnessed a drastic increase in reports of stray dogs. These dogs bite people, children, vulnerable elderly individuals, and even other animals like goats, causing serious injuries and sometimes even fatalities. They also create dangerous situations for neighborhoods, motorists, and scooter riders.
Each of these incidents has become all too common and is affecting every citizen on Aruba.
To combat this issue, the Aruba Police Force has prepared a plan to begin reducing the number of incidents and to make our community feel safer without the problem of stray dogs on public roads. This plan will primarily focus on making every individual who is RESPONSIBLE or who makes themselves responsible for taking care of a dog accountable!
“In our action plan, the well-being of both people and dogs is our priority,” stated Chief Commissioner of The Aruba Police, Drs. Ramon ARNHEM, in the context of the national police action plan against stray dogs.
Starting today, a national campaign called “DOGS UNDER CONTROL, IT’S THE LAW” will be launched, filled with extensive information about laws, procedures, management, prevention, and penalties related to this issue. This will precede the police action, which will begin on September 1, 2023. Throughout the month of September, various actions will take place in different neighborhoods around Aruba.
The purpose of this campaign is for the Aruba Police Force, together with other partners, to reduce the nuisance and danger caused by stray dogs and increase the sense of security in our community.

Preventiecampagne start vandaag!
MACUARIMA, ARUBA: Na verschillende onderzoeken te hebben uitgevoerd en naar de feedback van de gemeenschap te hebben geluisterd over het probleem van zwerfhonden op straat, bereidt de Korps Politie Aruba zich voor op een politieactie gericht op dit ernstige probleem dat alle inwoners van Aruba treft.
In de afgelopen tijd heeft de Korps Politie Aruba een drastische toename gezien in meldingen van zwerfhonden. Deze honden bijten mensen, kinderen, kwetsbare ouderen en zelfs andere dieren zoals geiten, wat ernstige verwondingen en soms zelfs dodelijke slachtoffers tot gevolg heeft. Ze zorgen ook voor gevaarlijke situaties in wijken, voor automobilisten en scooterrijders.
Elk van deze incidenten is steeds vaker voorgekomen en treft elke burger die zich niet langer veilig en beschermd voelt op Aruba.
Om dit probleem aan te pakken, heeft de Korps Politie Aruba een beheersplan opgesteld om het aantal incidenten te verminderen en ervoor te zorgen dat onze gemeenschap zich veiliger voelt zonder het probleem van zwerfhonden op openbare wegen. Dit beheersplan zal zich voornamelijk richten op het verantwoordelijk maken van individuen die verantwoordelijk zijn voor het zorgen voor een hond!
“In ons actieplan staat het welzijn van zowel mensen als honden voorop”, verklaarde de Hoofd Commissaris van Politie, Drs. Ramon ARNHEM, in het kader van het nationale politieactieplan tegen zwerfhonden.
Vanaf vandaag wordt een nationale campagne gelanceerd met de naam “HONDEN ONDER CONTROLE, HET IS DE WET”, gevuld met uitgebreide informatie over wetten, procedures, beheer, preventie en boetes met betrekking tot dit onderwerp. Dit zal voorafgaan aan de politieactie, die op 1 september 2023 van start gaat. Gedurende de maand september zullen verschillende acties plaatsvinden in verschillende wijken in heel Aruba.
Het doel van deze campagne is om samen met andere partners overlast en gevaar veroorzaakt door zwerfhonden te verminderen en het gevoel van veiligheid in onze gemeenschap te vergroten.
